Coach Eric has been a martial artist since the age of 5 and a Kung Fu pracitioner since 2002. Initially a student of the Moy Yat Wing Chun family, he achieved the rank of black sash in 2004. In late 2004, Eric would meet Hung Fa Yi Wing Chun Grandmaster Garrett Gee, becoming a member of the long distance Hung Fa Yi instructor program in early 2005. Coach Eric would go on to become a Bai-Si (formal discipleship) student of Grandmaster Garrett Gee in Hung Fa Yi Wing Chun in 2008. Coach Eric would also become a student of Grandmaster Gee's family kung fu as taugh by his father, Grandmaster Peter Kim Ho Chu, in 2007, later becoming a Bai-Si student to this line of Kung Fu in 2015. Coach Eric founded the Wutang Swordsman's club of Arizona in 2009, which he would run until his relocation to the San Francisco Bay Area in 2011. Since 2011, he has been an assistant instructor at World Hung Fa Yi Wing Chun Headquarters in San Francisco, directly under the guidance of Grandmaster Garrett Gee.
Coach Eric has also studied Jukido Jiu Jitsu, Yin Style Baguazhang, Muay Thai, and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
